my laugh, always down to go shopping, having lots of plants (mostly fakes ones... I have trouble keeping the real alive)
I started this business after discovering a love for photography and realizing the career I thought I loved wasn't exactly for me. After being diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder during school and barely being able to physically function, I medically withdrew from the Doctor of Physical Therapy program I was attending in October of 2017. Following that, it took several months to get back to normal and establish control over and manage my anxiety.
Then I found myself sitting as a 23-year-old girl at the start of 2018 wondering what the heck am I going to do with my life when I thought I wanted to be a physical therapist and that was all I had worked towards for years??... I had always dreamed of starting my own photography business but thought it would come much later in life and only as a hobby. Well guys, I went for it. And ta-da Kelsey Lanae Photography was born!
I'm a pun-loving, ice cream-eating, list-making girl from small town Oklahoma living in the big city of Dallas with my hunky husband.
For as long as I can remember, my mom has had a camera and documented our lives as a family. I can recall making trips with my mom and sister to Drug Warehouse (like Walgreens or CVS) to develop film and pick up printed pictures. Scrapbooking is her biggest hobby. My parents have 50+ THICK scrapbook albums in their house. One for every year for each me and my sister, every vacation, and sports I played. They are one of my most treasured possessions – living in Oklahoma (tornado alley) basically my whole life – these scrapbooks were the main thing I wanted to preserve and take to the shelter every time lol.
My mom also scheduled us to take portraits every year – individual of me and my sister and then our family. We basically had the same photographer our whole childhood. The pictures line the hallway of the upstairs in my parents’ house. It’s so fun to look back on and physically see the all the changes and phases that have developed individually and in our family.
When you are so in love you think “how could I love this person more??”

When you are about to grow your family and your life is about to change.
When your children are still little and their personalities are blooming.
When you are about to embark on life’s journey as an “adult” to college or work.

I photograph natural moments captured in a split second but are remembered forever.
I serve people who desire to have quality, high-resolution photos of their biggest times or the in-between moments and phases of everyday life that encaptures who they are as a person, couple, or family.
I create for people who are totally into preserving their legacy for years to come.
If you're still reading this, you are probably my kind of person...
"Taking family pictures has always been a dream of mine. When it came to picking outfits, I didn't even know where to start. But with Kelsey's help we had a color scheme that I loved and looked natural. I know we'll be coming back for more shots in the future."
